taking on cleveland

I love exploring a new area-especially when you are almost clueless of everything that is around you.  Since I just moved to the Cleveland area about 3 months ago I have been slowly starting to explore and see what neat things are in the area.

My friend came up from Pittsburgh for the day to explore with me and we got a ton accomplished in 24 hours and we had so much good food!

‘Cleveland’ Sign Downtown location-this is a selfie stick photo op for sure.  The view of the lake and the downtown area is great at this little park!

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame-makes for a great backdrop for a picture

Progressive Field-home of the (almost) World Series champs!

Guys, I love food, I mean who doesn’t?  There are really so many great places to eat in Cleveland.  Here’s a list of the places we tried:

B Spot (located in Woodmere)-Guys, the fries.  That’s all I need to say…oh and the milkshakes….

Grumpy’s Cafe (located in Tremont)-Adorable decor and even better food.  Great spot for a quick bite with a friend

Colossal Cupcake (located Downtown)-They really were Colossal…and the pink chairs inside just make it that much better

Melt (a few locations around Cleveland)-SO MUCH CHEESE.  I think that’s all I need to say about that.

We really lucked out with the weather, so I did not have to wear a super heavy jacket that day.  I opted for my go to Madewell ‘Fleet’ Jacket that I seriously cannot get enough of.  Paired with my go to Rag and Bone skinny jeans and a lightweight Madewell sweater it was the perfect fall outfit!  I wore these amazing and comfortable Lucky Brand boots-I could walk for days in them!

I am going to a few more cities this week-more to come!

high shine gifts under $30

One of my favorite things about the holiday season are all of the little stocking stuffers, home things, and trinkets that pop up around stores.  I was browsing the gifting section online at Nordstrom and stumbled upon some adorable items that make great gifts for friends, family, or yourself (hey, we were all thinking it).   My personal favorite home goods/trinkets are gold and glittery…there were plenty to choose from here!  Here are some of my favorites that are all under $30!

Glitter Monogram Letter Decoration-$18

‘Get it Done’ Journal-$12

Ceramic Jewelry Tray-$14

Travel Mug-$18

Cat Ear Beanie-$28

I will be posting weekly gift guides from now until the end of the Holiday Season-stay tuned!

fall denim roundup

Who doesn’t love a good fitting pair of jeans?  There is nothing better than putting on a pair that doesn’t gap in the back, doesn’t stretch out throughout your day and is the perfect wash.  I currently have about 40 pairs of denim in my closet-no two pairs are exactly the same.  Here are some of the brands/styles I am currently crushing hardcore on…

And remember…when you are buying a pair of premium denim you are paying the price for the quality and how long they will last you!  It is better to spend a little more and wear them for, legit, years.  To preserve the color and fit of the denim lay them flat to dry and wash them inside out.

Black Skinnies-Current/Elliot ‘The Stiletto’ Jean  CURRENTLY ON SALE!

I probably have 7 pairs of black jeans in my wardrobe and I still believe that I need more.  I probably wear black jeans 3 times a week. It’s fine….

Boyfriend Fit-7 For All Mankind ‘Josepina’ Boyfriend Jean  CURRENTLY ON SALE!

A great fitting Boyfriend style jean is key to have in your closet.  You do not want them to fit too tight, but you do want them to fit in the right places.  This style does not stretch out throughout the day and is super flattering throughout the behind area.

Basic Denim Skinnies-rag & bone ‘Stretch Skinny’ Jean CURRENTLY ON SALE!

You really cannot beat a basic skinny that you can always count on.  These will pair back perfectly to about 99% of your wardrobe, making them the perfect investment piece.  HEADS UP-these run a bit tight

Ripped up-Joe’s ‘Billie’s Destroyed Crop Slim Boyfriend Jean’ CURRENTLY ON SALE!

My favorite thing about a good pair of really ripped up denim is that you can totally dress them up with a fun shoe and top.  I love pairing the above Joe’s with a Rockstud Valentino low heal for an unexpected twist on a look.

monday in monotone

Guys-when you have no idea of what to wear there is nothing better (and more chic) than throwing together a  monotone outfit.  I am currently crushing over grey tones for the fall-which is also the color I opted for today.

Something to keep in mind while putting together a monotone outfit is to wear different tones of the color to break it up.  Mixing fabrics can be a good way to break up the look.  I also opted for a hot pink lip, which matched the detailing on the shoes, to give the look a pop of color at first glance.  I will totally be repeating this look during the fall/winter season.

I found this cozy sweater yesterday for only $10, originally $20!!! This sweater inspired me to do the whole monotone look.  I paired the sweater back to my Grey Paige Skinnies (they are so comfy and fit great) and my Charlotte Olympia marble/pink kitty flats (similar linked).  I threw on a grey and white Kate Spade statement necklace and I was ready to go!

Hope you all had a great Monday!

If it was possible to go to brunch each day I would totally take advantage of that.  Last weekend a few of my girls came down to visit from Pittsburgh and we found this amazing brunch spot in Ohio City-The Petit Triangle.  I want to go back every single day-but seriously.

The menu had a little bit of everything-which is why we all had a hard time deciding what we should devour for brunch.   I chose the Steak and Eggs along with the Nutella Crepe (because Nutella).  Guys-look at how good this looks….

If you find yourself in the Cleveland area you must out The Petit Triangle on your ‘to try’ list!

Sunday in Athleisure

Nothing beats a great pair of yoga pants that not only holds everything in place-but also look super stylish.  My personal favorite brand are the Zella Live In Legging, only available at Nordstrom.  The price point is AMAZING and they hold everything in place for the whole day.  They also hold their shape really well, seriously I have pairs from 4 years ago that are not faded or stretched out.  I have these leggings in a variety of colors and this week I got the Purple Gem color-which is great!

Ivy Park-the Topshop/Beyonce Athleisure colab-recently put out their fall collection and they have some great tops that look great in and out of the gym.  The first one I bought was a stylish (yes I am using the word stylish to describe a workout top) one shoulder tank.  It runs REALLY large and I sized down two sizes (I bought an xxs).  The second choice I made was the black branded crop top.  Both of these items are sold out-but here are a few of my other favs that are still available:  Elastic Logo Bodysuit, Laser Logo Tank, and The Logo Jersey Tank.

All of the Ivy Park tops that I have tried so far pair back great with the Zella Live In Legging-which makes for a perfect Sunday Funday outfit!

And guys-here is a quick styling tip-throw on a casual chambray button up with this outfit for a little coverup!

denim skirts and face shirts

So the weather here in Cleveland has been uncommonly warm for this time of year, so I am trying to take full advantage of it!  Why wear a pair of jeans if you can throw on a denim skirt and still be comfortable?!  So, that is what i decided to throw on today.

I am obsessed with my Rag and Bone denim skirt (similar linked)-it is the perfect length and has more of a pencil fit so you can dress it up pretty easily.  It also has a higher rise so it pairs back perfectly with a boxy crop top-which was my choice today.  I paired the denim skirt back to this adorable Madewell graphic tee that has a bunch of fun faces on it (no longer available).  I tied a plaid around my waist and I was ready to go!

-if you are looking for an affordable bootie that is also SUPER comfortable check out the BP Tripp Bootie!

Happy Saturday, Everyone!

turtleneck time

Fall calls for all sorts of crazy weather and with that crazy weather comes the opportunity to wear all types of different styles!  I was on the hunt for a perfect lightweight turtleneck that did not hug around the neck too tightly.  I found the winner, the Madewell “Theo Turtleneck Top”.  It comes in various colors and runs super true to size.

I paired mine back with the Madewell “Fleet” Jacket, which I am currently obsessing over, and threw on some comfy and casual boyfriend jeans.  Pair that back with a pair of booties and you are ready for any fall activity!  img_0152-1

dressed up sweatshirts

Let’s be honest-there is nothing better than throwing on a comfy sweatshirt on an off day. Looking put together while still wearing a sweatshirt can be a little tricky, but this fall a bunch of different brands have some adorable options to be comfy and still cute!  My top favs are the Kate Spade Bow Sweatshirt and the J. Crew Ruffle Neck Sweatshirt.  Both options fit great and can dress up a casual look in an instant.

The Kate Spade Bow Sweatshirt looks great paired back with black jeans (or leggings) and a gold ankle bootie!

I love pairing the J.Crew Ruffle Sweatshirt with a pair of dark wash jeans and a fun pair of hot pink loafers!

Happy sweatshirt hunting!

polished pretty

There is really nothing better than freshly painted nails-they can really make you look much more put together.  I used to get my nails gel polished at a salon every 2 weeks, but for the past year I have been doing them myself.  My go to polish brand is Essie-it seems to last the longest and has the best shine.  Not to mention they always have the best color names!  I always start my self manicures with “Fill the Gap” treatment and end them with “Gel Setter” that works without a lamp!  I tell everyone that paints their own nails about “Gel Setter”-it makes manicures last so much longer and have much more shine!  With the Fall season basically here my go to colors are “Berry Naughty”, “Off Tropic” and for a more natural look “Lady Like”.

Happy polishing, folks!
